26A - Celebrating Failure
1. This semester, I failed pretty hard in the same area that has scarred many before me: Business Finance. Going into it, I thought that I would be able to go against the odds and ace the class, however I was humbled pretty easily by the first exam. After many long nights in the library and plenty of blood, sweat, and tears, I ended up doing pretty poorly on the first exam. The second exam was said to be the easiest, and I managed to score an 80%. However now I am on my way towards the final and most difficult exam.
2. I've learned quite a bit from my failures this semester. To begin with, there are some things in life that you work for that you are simply not going to get so easily, no matter how familiar you are with getting what you want on the usual. In this case, I have never struggled significantly with a class and doing so for the first time made me realize that. Despite how disappointing that sounds, it is actually an useful lesson to learn, because it gives you a reason to work as hard as you can and overcome your obstacles. Primarily, I find the most beautiful part about failure to be the way it wakes you up and lights the fire that pushes you to overcome.
3. In general, failing is hard, yes. Sometimes it makes you question your self worth, sometimes its simply embarrassing. However, it is also a tool that can be used for self evaluation. It is a brilliant way of analyzing your mistakes and coming back 10 times better, and in that way its pretty awesome.

Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI relate to this blog post a lot because I've been having a really hard time with financial accounting this semester. It is a very challenging subject to me and I did a very job on the first exam. Even though I did better on the second exam, a lot of pressure is coming up on me because the final exam will be a make it or break it exam. Fortunately, I've learned about better study habits as the semester has moved along.
Hey Nikki,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not a business student. I do work at a bank and have a close relationship to finances and terms of the sort. I can't imagine the stress and duress of being put in a classroom setting with the tests and assignments. I'm sure you'll do great on the final exam. Just be sure to prepare and you'll do just as well as on the second test. Great post!
Hi Nikki, it seems like you made the most out of a not so i deal situation. It is great that you take failures as learning opportunity's and you have inspired me to do the same. I like how you said failure wakes you up because it does seem true that they give you a nice reality check sometimes. Overall, good job.
