25A – What’s Next?
Existing Market
1. What’s
next? More construction and enhancement of new campuses.
2. I
interviewed 3 University students that I met on campus earlier this week, and I
explained to each of them the nature of my venture. Two of them gave me the
idea that I should remain paired with the University and try to expand and conduct
more projects here. The other person advised that I should research more about
trying to incorporate more sustainability related construction.
3. While
remaining partnered with UF would be nice and possibly productive, in the long
run I would love to partner with even more Universities and give myself a
chance to grow. So in this way, I am accepting the advice of those I
interviewed but taking it a step further. As far as sustainability goes, I
think that would be a great idea that would possibly set me apart from any
competition I may have in the future.
New Market
1. One
radically different market I could try to tackle is consumers instead of
businesses, by providing the same service but simply for neighborhoods or even
houses. I could aim to expand homes and create projects that use the space
better and attract people.
2. I
believe this could create value for people in the marker because everyone wants
to be proud of their own living space and feel safe and clean there. If I were
to enhance locations by using a price point that is reasonable and maybe even low
cost with proper planning, I believe people would be interested in creating a
better living space for themselves.
3. Once
I explained the concept to two people, I was given some really great feedback
and ideas! The first girl said I can go about meeting new customers by
potentially working with real estate businesses and offering to enhance neighborhoods
and houses so that they would be more desirable to prospective buyers. The
second guy believes I should stick with my first idea of constructing on larger
scale projects so that I can be more profitable. Both of them would like me to
outline better everything that is potentially offered by my venture, such as
what types of constructing and enhancement I would be offering.
4. Upon
looking back at all of the feedback I received about the new market, I have
decided that I am even more excited about my initial idea than I was in the
first place. To begin with, I was stuck deciding which ways I could possibly
grow after constructing a library for UF’s campus, however taking with
different people a and taking the time to brainstorm has provided me with
dozens of opportunities. If I got to a point where I was running a large scale
construction venture, I would be able to penetrate a wide spectrum of markets,
ranging from Universities, to neighborhoods, to real estate agencies! While the
Universities seem to be a more attractive market to me, I think over time I may
be able to expand into many more places as well.
Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI think that your approach to a new market is very interesting. It is a similar route that I took to some degree. I believe that this is the route many businesses have taken in the past decade because of the rise of online purchases and access to companies. Additionally, getting feedback further agreeing with your original idea is very exciting and I'm glad it made you excited!
Hi Nikki, you really seem to be an innovator, that's great! I like the idea of you moving on from campus and into the real world, after all, you wont be a student forever. Leaving your mark with a new library at UF and then moving on to expansion outside of campus would really make you seem like a successful entrepreneur. I hope you are able to carry these plans out one day.
ReplyDeleteHey Nikki,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea about targeting the "radically different market." I think there's an opportunity to be had there and altering your product to fit the audience's needs are just what a great business opportunity sounds like. I think you did a great job on your post. I look forward to exploring your business' future endeavors.
Hey Nikki,
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I really like the idea of having a new library at UF. It would definitely be convenient, especially as the university's population keeps growing. Expanding this outside of campus too one day would be doable if you were successful with this venture, as you would already have experience under your belt. Nice post!
