19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

1) You.
My name is Nikki Shuman and I am a 3rd year business student at the University of Florida. I am involved in different business clubs on campus and I enjoy many hobbies such as piano, singing, painting and volleyball. Above all, I love to work with people and my goal as a business student is to incorporate that love into whatever work I do.
2) What are you offering to customers?
I am not only offering a product to my customers, but an experience. The construction of a new library would improve the University by adding a completely new building with plenty of space as well as a renovated area to attract future students.
3) Who are you offering it to?
I am offering a new library to University of Florida students. This consists of young adults ranging from ages 18-22, from all different backgrounds, races, genders, etc.
4) Why do they care?
People care about the construction of a new library because it would be enhancing their academic experience. It is an idea that, once completed, can be utilized by all university students while getting rid of the previous issue of not having access to enough space on campus.
5) What are your core competencies?
What sets me apart from everyone else is that this idea is a big one, and nobody else is taking it on. Since there are no other efforts on campus or at UF to tackle this problem and provide more space to students I feel as though I will be able to generate far more support.

I believe these elements do work together pretty nicely, however, the weakest component is my core competencies since it is not as though I would be going up against many others to compete for sales.
Some of the feedback I received was that I should try to consider other options such as expanding the current library upwards, but besides that others haven’t said much else.

  1. Hi Nikki, your idea napkin still seems very thought out. The idea of a new library still intrigues me. Your target, college students, is still spot on and I too share the same target. You are still right in saying that what sets you apart is that nothing else is being done about the lack of space. I have never heard anyone offer a solution like you have, although I have heard of students suggesting expanding upward as well. Maybe the structure of the building wasn't made for any more floors? Anyways, I still think your idea napkin is great.
